Many individuals continue to support educational opportunities for children with albinism through bursary sponsorship.
"It became very clear to me that as a vulnerable and marginalised group, people with albinism needed a voice raised for them."

"I can’t wait to collaborate with Standing Voice again. Beforehand, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing in terms of fundraising or organising a mission like this. Now, I feel confident that in the future, I could reach even higher fundraising goals."

ACTIVE AND CHALLENGE EVENTS
Do you run, climb, row, or cycle? Do you relish a challenge and crave adventure? Our Active and Challenge Events push you to accomplish incredible feats of endurance while raising vital funds to support our work.
Highland Heroes is a once-in-a-lifetime experience traversing some of the most spectacular scenery in the Scottish Highlands. In just 7 days you will canoe 60 miles along the Great Glen, cycle 200 miles and summit 7 Highland mountains, each over 3,000ft high.
All our Kilimanjaro Climbs are organised by leading expedition company, Monix Adventures, and led by world-renowned mountaineer Rhys Jones. Our most recent Kilimanjaro Climb saw 17 participants raise a staggering £283,000 to support Standing Voice.
Learning about our core values—respect, dignity, and the celebration of difference—is extremely powerful in an educational context. Our beneficiaries’ stories are brought to life by the fundraising workshops and assemblies we have helped to organise in schools. If your school would like to realise some of its own fantastic initiatives simply contact our team today.
Albinism Awareness Week
Isamilo International School, Tanzania
Standing Voice supported Isamilo International School to host a weeklong programme of events to educate students and the wider school community about the discrimination faced by people with albinism in Tanzania and to raise valuable funds to support Standing Voice’s work. Standing Voice Global Advocate and protagonist of In the Shadow of the Sun Josephat Torner was present during the week.
The week began with a fundraising screening of In the Shadow of the Sun, followed by Q&A with Josephat. To publicise the event we distributed over 1,700 educational flyers and advertised on radio too.
Josephat led assemblies with Primary and Secondary school students. Years 1-6 received a special PHSE lesson on albinism and the challenges that people with albinism face in our community. Our non-uniform day raised further funds; pupils wore a sunhat or sunglasses (or both) in recognition of the special precautions that people with albinism must take. All members of the local community—businesses, churches, mosques, individuals—have chipped in to show support. It's been overwhelmingly positive.
