About Standing Voice
Standing Voice is an international human rights organisation working to ensure people with albinism can live with dignity and equality.
Standing Voice holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council and have developed long-term partnerships with donors including the European Union, United Nations agencies, the Wellcome Trust, and the World Bank, alongside trusts, foundations, philanthropists, and individual supporters.
Albinism is a genetically inherited condition causing melanin deficiency, which leads to visual impairment, extreme vulnerability to skin cancer, and a life expectancy of under 40 years for many PWA in Africa.
PWA also face violent persecution and social exclusion, with hundreds of human rights violations documented across Africa since 2006. SV exists to dismantle these barriers, bringing life-saving healthcare, education, security, and opportunity to thousands of people otherwise left behind.
We believe storytelling is a powerful tool for justice and social change. Through ethical and inclusive communications, we aim to challenge stigma, raise awareness, amplify underrepresented voices, and inspire action locally, nationally, and globally.
